Point guard Travis Diener was a fan favorite in Orlando during the two years he played for the Magic. Management liked his basketball I.Q. and leadership, but he rarely cracked the lineup and left this past offseason for a chance to play more. The Indiana Pacers have given Diener his chance and he isn't disappointing, averaging 7.1 points and 3.4 assists coming off the bench, both career highs. Full Story |

If Orlando is going to vault past both Detroit and Boston, it's pretty much a consensus opinion that they will have to make a personnel move. This
proposed move for a player who's rumored to be on the market would completely shake up the current structure of the Magic, and would be a major risk/reward type of deal that could define Otis Smith's tenure as Orlando general manager.

The reigning NBA Finals MVP led Marquette to their first Final Four since 1977 and was named a first team All-American. He left Marquette after two seasons having scored 1281 points. The body of UW-LaCrosse student Luke Homan, missing since early Saturday, was recovered in the Mississippi River in LaCrosse this morning.
Luke is the son of Jerry Homan, a member of the 1974 Marquette team that made it to the NCAA Finals. Full Story

Tony Smith, a 1990 All-American, was inducted into Marquette's Hall of Fame last weekend. Smith still holds Marquette's single game scoring record (44) as well as the highest per game scoring average in a season (23.8). 1972 All-American Jim Chones scored 952 points and grabbed 583 rebounds leading Marquette to a 49-1 record during his career. In 1971 he helped lead MU to a 28-1 record and in 1971-72 Chones led Marquette to a 21-0 start, but family came first so he declared for the ABA Draft. A first round pick by the Knicks, Chones had a 10-year career in the ABA & NBA, winning a title with the 1980 Lakers. Full Story

Brian Wardle still ranks fourth on Marquette’s all-time leading scorer list with 1,690 career points. He led the team in scoring for three seasons and was the first Marquette player to be named first-team All-Conference USA. Wardle graduated from Marquette with a bachelor’s degree in Communications in 2001 and has been playing and coaching basketball ever since. Full Story
