MU trailing by 6 points 49-44 with 4:43 left, came back to beat Utah State 58-57 to advance in the NCAA Tourney. Jr Lazar Hayward paced MU with 26 pts and 8 reb. Marquette won the game by shooting 19 for 23 from the FT line to overcome 36% FG shooting and 26% three point shooting. Utah State trailed most of the first half but made a 31 to 14 run to take a 6 point lead with 4:43 left in the game.
Hayward's heroics were needed as MU's top scorers Jerel McNeal[3 for 16] and Wesley Matthews [3-10] struggled from the field.
