Marquette beat St John's 73-64. Marquette (19-6, 9-5 Big East)was led by Jerel McNeal 20 points and 7 rebounds and Dominic James added 19 pts including 9-for-9 from the free throw line. For the Red Storm (10-15, 4-10), Anthony Mason Jr. had 20 points. St. John's had 23 turnovers and finished 23-for-40 from the free-throw line. MU was 21-for-26.
Tom Crean said, "Around Marquette we call it blue collar desperate. If we're not playing that way we're not that good. Our guys did a lot of good things. We did a fantastic job of setting the tone with defense early and at the start of the second half."
