Sarah Barshop looks at MU's big win over Pitt by the numbers.

23 – Number of consecutive wins at the BMO Harris Bradley Center

The Golden Eagles continue to build upon their home winning streak, with 23 straight wins at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. It is the fourth longest streak in NCAA Division I men’s basketball, which Syracuse leads with 37-straight wins at the Carrier Dome. Marquette junior guard Vander Blue said after the game that the fans are a big part of the team’s success at home.

“I feel like we have great fans,” Blue said. “They definitely help us a lot here. There’s no place like home. You have your comfort zone. We’re comfortable here. We practice here all the time. This is our home court. Everyone’s good on their home court.

“We’ve just got to make sure the way that we prepare here, that we prepare to play on the road, and just bring it. That’s what separates the elite teams: the teams that can win on the road. We don’t want to just be known as the team that can win at home.”

Marquette’s win over Pittsburgh is also their 5th straight at home against a top-25 opponent.

56.5 – Percentage that Marquette shot from the field

Pittsburgh head coach Jamie Dixon noted after the game that the Panthers’ goal coming into the game was to hold Marquette to 40 percent from the field, but it was never that close.

The Golden Eagles shot 61.5 percent from the field in the first half, and shot 50 percent in the second half. Overall, Marquette’s field goal percentage is 56.5 percent.

[Trent Lockett had another solid outing with 11 pts, 2 reb and 2 assists]

49 – Number of games since Pittsburgh gave up more than 75 points

The 79 points for Marquette was the most points the Pittsburgh Panthers have allowed in their last 49 games. It was also their largest loss of the season, and the Panthers’ only double-digit loss of the campaign.

The previous meeting between the Panthers and the Golden Eagles on Jan. 12 in Pittsburgh was a 74-67 Marquette win, and the 74 points was the most points allowed by the Panthers this season before Saturday’s loss in Milwaukee.

The Golden Eagles got 19 points from junior guard Vander Blue, who was 7-8 from the field, including 2-2 from beyond the arc. He scored seven of Marquette’s first nine points, and scored 14 of his 19 points in the first half.

Buzz Williams said that he believes Marquette’s two wins over Pittsburgh this season were the Golden Eagles’ best two games – and most complete– this season.

9 – Number of wins all-time against Pittsburgh

With Saturday’s win, Marquette not leads the all-time series against Pittsburgh, 9-8. This is significant because this will be the final game against the Panthers with both teams playing in the Big East. Pittsburgh will be leaving the conference for the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) starting next season.

17,308 – Number of tickets sold for the game 10 – Number of years since Marquette’s last Final Four appearance
