Derrick Wilson: improving his offense

Posted Jul 12, 2012

As a Freshman in '11-12, backup PG Derrick Wilson played sparingly, mostly in defensive situations. MU Coach Buzz Williams and his staff used Junior Cadougan 85% of the time at PG, switched 2G Vander Blue over to PG about 10% and played Derrick Wilson about 5%. Wilson sure did not get much respect from Big East refs as he seemed to be in foul trouble almost from the time he entered a game.

Earlier in the Spring, then asst coach Aki Collins told me that Wilson was the most improved player in offseason skills practice. Watching him at the Scion Dental Summer Pro AM, you can see that he has improved his three pt shot and FT%. I asked him about his offseason is an 8 min audio interview.Listen to Audio

Wilson plays a physical brand of defense.
