Observations after Marquette v. Wis Luth

Deny Gallagher is part of our Marquette Hoops.com student staff that covers Marquette's basketball team. Here are his thoughts after game #1 of the Wojciechowski Era.

Anderson's 27pts lead MU to exhibition win

Anderson's 27pts lead MU to exhibition win

For most of Marquette’s 115-47 exhibition victory over Wisconsin Lutheran Saturday, senior team captain Juan Anderson looked like he was back at Castro Valley High. In the Golden Eagles’ first game action under coach Steve Wojciechowski, Anderson led the way with 27 points, which would’ve been a career-high had the game been official, along with eight rebounds and five steals.

Travis Diener Evaluates the Players

Travis Diener Evaluates the Players

Travis Diener was one of the best PGs ever to play at Marquette. The ‘great PG’ evaluates his options on the court and finds the teammate with the hot hand. Recently, I asked Travis to evaluate the current players.

Travis is Back

Travis is Back

He is back! After 9 yrs as a professional basketball player in the US and Italy, Travis Diener has returned to the MU program. In a recent interview, I wanted to better understand his role with the team, get his take on the '14-15 team but I was quickly distracted and asked him about his memories of the great 2003 Final Four run with wins over Holy Cross, Missouri and Kentucky.

Offseason Workouts

Grueling offseason “boot camps” were one of former Marquette coach Buzz Williams’ most publicized trademarks. Steve Wojciechowki has rightly not made much of an effort to compare himself to Williams, striving instead to build and create his own brand of practice since his hiring in April.

"Collectiveness" is key for Golden Eagles

The underlying theme throughout the Al McGuire Center on Marquette Media Day was a feeling of collectiveness. With only nine players eligible to play during the first semester schedule, the Golden Eagles will need to be as versatile as possible.

Chris Carrawell Part 2: Recruiting Strategery

As soon as Chris Carrawell joined Steve Wojciechowski's staff at Marquette, it become clear that there was one immediate task- get to know the top recruits in the State of WI. How to do that? Spend 15 hr days on the phone and quickly hit the road and drive to where the top high school and AAU coaches were. Coaches cannot comment on specific recruits but Coach Carrawell did admit

Getting to Know Chris Carrawell

Getting to Know Chris Carrawell

One of the first moves that new coach Steve Wojciechowski made after being hired at MU was adding Chris Carrawell as an assistant coach. Carrawell was a teammate of Wojo’s at Duke and was ACC Player of the Year in 2000. A native of St. Louis, Mo., Carrawell worked in various capacities in the Duke program[’07-'11] and for the past three yrs
